True Home is an LGBT+ sanctuary located in Richmond, Virginia. It was founded to give a helping hand to those who are in need.
Despite a shift toward greater acceptance in most countries, homo-, trans- and intersex phobia remain widespread, thereby putting LGBT+ individuals at risk of being discriminated against in dimensions critical for their well-being: family life, education, economic outcomes, and health. True Home aims to push back against this exclusivity in society by providing underprivileged LGBT+ members a sanctuary as well as advocating for the cause through fundraising and the work of volunteers.
Our Mission Statement:
“Our mission is to work towards a more accepting environment for all people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity through education, support, social action, and advocacy. We believe that everyone deserves an accepting home where they are free to be themselves. To these ends we seek to provide sanctuary those who have no true home.”
